Ask what is inside the number:

A quote at $6 per foot that includes two downspouts and no removal is not comparable to $9 per foot with five downspouts and haul-away.

Do not pick a contractor on per-foot price alone. Compare gauge, hanger spacing, downspout count, and the warranty. A quote that is $2 per foot cheaper but uses .027-inch metal and wide hangers can cost more after the first repair.
